Reviews
Booked this place because we thought Potipot Island is still open to the public, it ain’t for a while.
Let me start with the positive:
The staff were friendly and attended to all our requests.
The beach was child friendly and clean
Negative:
The rooms are old. The pictures attached say a thousand words. Not worth the money we paid-4500 for 2adults & 2kids. The beachfront room we were assigned to was even worst, the floors were wooden and creaking. It felt so old that I thought Maria Clara can pop out of the mirror anytime. We had to be reassigned a new room because the bed broke.
The pool was dirty
The food was ok, some had generous servings, but is expensive.
Generally NOT recommending the place.
it was our first time here, it took us 7 hours to travel coming from Alabang. if you're looking for peace and quiet, this is a place to go. we were very happy with the crew, they were always wearing a smile, ready and very quick to assist, the villas and the whole resort was clean and orderly when we got there. there were a few hiccups though, the water is shut down at night, or there might have been a problem with the pipes for some reason. the pool water is not desirable to jump into, i think they don't use chemicals to treat the water. they don't proactively take out the trash, we stayed for 3 days and 2 nights there and our trash was all piled up. we tried to play billiards, they don't have a complete set of balls, and only 1 stick. we tried renting boats-900 for 7 pax+150 extra peron max of 9 on the boat, sadly, no roof on it at no ladder to get back on the boat, we tried to ask if there were goggles on the boat-none, we asked if there was at the reception-only 1 at 250 rental. the boat men told us there were dolphins and fishes, but when we were already out in the sea, we were brought to a place were there were no fish near the isla de potipot and the water was just leg to neck deep.it was very clean and clear though.
we asked for a bonfire set up-it was 1k on the bill. and massage is at 700 per hour.
we did enjoy the food, very simple menu yet balanced and tasty. served on time and freshly cooked. we had left overs every meal and they welcomed to save them and reheat and serve on our next meal.
we had a deal for board and lodging, and we were really satisfied with the food and service at the dining area.
the good side is that the beach was clean and not too many people, i guess because it was off season, i can recommend the place if you're going to stay for a few days like we did, but if you're going for an overnight and coming a long way from here, it's not that great. if you are nearby, then it's ok. by the way, there's phone signal and they have free wifi access too.
Room - expensive, old structure, smells old, dirty curtains, dirty & worn out cleopatra chair form. Walang free toiletries and bottle water. Not worth paying 3,500 and travelled for that area for 6 hours.
Service - poor service, we ordered pizza but the server never bothered to give us hot sauce, plate and water. Nanghingi pa kami. We asked for water in the room, they delivered without the glass.
Location - very far
Dagat - dark brown sand.
Food - expensive
Have time to do adventure. For foreigners I'd recommend to book places that are buildings/Apartelles for a great experience unless wishing to experience local lives with some nuisance such as insects (mosquitoes).
If you like less crowded beach this is the best place to unwind. Crew were approachable, friendly and they are good with customer service especially those who work in the restaurant. Kinda disappointed with the room since, the main door is difficult to lock and bathroom door doesn't lock at all. They could've maintained the place better since most of the rooms or facade are broken and looks outdated. There are still spots where you can take good pictures. The taste of the food are inconsistent and some are a bit pricey.
For a resort located in Zambales, it's quite far coming from Manila. More or less, you'll spend around 5-6 hours driving. There are a lot of things to see upon entering the premises, like a bridge walkway, a nearby river and lots of plants …
Price is quite high for what you get. Some things are understandable given how far the resort is from the city but I wouldn’t go back here. The rooms give off an old house vibe which can either be cozy or dingy depending on how you see it. While the rooms are spacious, the bedsheets have some stains. My partner had bites after sleeping (meaning may surot). Shower was very weak, no worries we used the faucet to bathe but the water is yellow. This also made brushing our teeth hard because the water had taste. Wifi does not reach the room as well. Food is ok but expect your order to arrive 1-2 hours after even if there is no one else eating. Staff are friendly but the service needs improvement. They prioritize those who pay the team building package. You can also order only until 8:30pm and there are no other options nearby if you get hungry later. The pool water was something else. We only swam once and did not dare go back after. It’s very murky and thick like it has not been cleaned. Best to swim in the beach instead. We came all the way from Manila and the drive was almost 7 hours. The beach view is nice but it is not enough to make the trip and price worth it. I hope management can improve.
We went to Potipot Gateway Resort with low expectations after reading the reviews. I even informed my family and companions to manage their expectations as well. But to our surprise, The place is perfect for our family's taste. It actually …
